It’s amazing how we listen to music in cycles.
Sitting at home. Completely unimpressed by the 21,000+ songs sitting idly in my iTunes library. Contemplating what to listening to - one would seemingly assume, I’ve actually listened to every single song in said library, thus the reason why appear disenchanted and jaded from the thought of listening to anything from it. Then, I figured, why not start over? Begin listening to songs I loved a few months/year back - Vampire Weekend was the band of choice. I Started off with “White Sky” reminiscing moments that chronicle otherwise forgettable moments in my life. This used to be my favorite song, albeit for a week. That seems to happen often. We grow incredibly attached to a song/band, for a short period - a period that is compromised mostly of watching videos of said band on youtube, constantly posting songs on tumblr, telling our friends how “they’re the greatest band of this year”; if at that specific moment of infatuation some affable chap were to ask you, “hey, what are your favorite bands of all time”, the seemingly well-thought out response would be “60s band, 60s band, new wave band, and currently vampire weekend”. That list is very likely to change within the next week - for some it’s days, for others it’s months. We’re a rather spazzy bunch.
Nonetheless, I’m currently listening to Vampire Weekend. It’s a thrill.
